Biodola Elba

Guide to Elba’s most famous beach

Biodola Beach on Elba Island, located in the municipality of Portoferraio, is one of the island’s best-known and most popular seaside spots. Overlooking the beautiful Gulf of Biodola, it is known for its long stretch of light sand, turquoise and blue-green sea, and wide range of services that make it especially popular with families, couples and groups of friends.

Considered one of the most beautiful beaches on Elba Island, Biodola is an ideal destination for anyone looking to spend a relaxing day by the sea, with comfort and outdoor activities close at hand.

Where Biodola Beach is located on Elba Island

Biodola is on the northern coast of the island, between Portoferraio and Procchio. The bay sits within a large gulf surrounded by Mediterranean scrub and is one of the main tourist areas on the northern side of Elba.

The beach is about 600 metres long and has fine, light-coloured sand, a fairly rare feature on Elba Island. The seabed slopes gently, allowing easy, gradual access to the water, which makes Biodola especially suitable for families with children.

What Biodola is like

Sea, seabed and atmosphere

The sea at Biodola is known for its clear water and shades ranging from blue-green to turquoise, typical colours of the Elban coast.

The shallow, sandy seabed allows you to walk several metres before the water becomes deep. This is one of the reasons why the beach is so popular with those travelling with young children.

The bay is also ideal for swimming, paddleboarding, pedal boats and other water activities. At the sides of the beach, where the seabed becomes more varied, you can go snorkelling and spot small fish and submerged rocky areas.

The relaxed atmosphere and the beauty of the Gulf of Biodola help make this one of the most loved places on Elba Island.

Available services

Biodola Beach has both free beach areas and equipped beach clubs. During the summer season, there are many services that allow you to spend the whole day here without having to move elsewhere.
